I've been watching Skyline stream (he needs more love, seriously) and he casts viewer games from time to time, picking 12 random viewers and setting up a best of 3 match. Insanely fun.
One of the snags is making the teams balanced: players range from bronze to grandmaster. Each player has to be analyzed in game and balanced by hand. When I saw this happen a few times, I knew I could automate it, so I whipped up a little webapp that does it. I have no idea if it will actually be used, but it was good practice and a reason to try some new technologies.
It's very simple and the match making algorithm is probably not the most efficient, but it seems to do the job. I figured I'd share it in case it would be useful to any other communities or groups that want to balance random sets of 12 players.
If you want to contribute or take this and make it your own, feel free. Let me know if anything doesn't work or you have any ideas for new functionality or similar tools.
