It’s basically been a year straight of most late circle fights being decided by the handful of players in the lobby that have the ability to see through some sort of concealing ability (smoke, catalyst wall, caustic gas) without the player being shot at having any form of counterplay/awareness of what’s even happening.
We had Seer Ult Cat wall giving a super OP one-way strategy (shooting diamonds), then we went straight into a hard Bang smoke Digi threat meta, and now we have BH ult bang smoke/caustic. Every fight in final circles and nearly every fight in early circles centralizes around your teams ability to blind the other team and shoot at them when they have no conceivable way of seeing you.
It’s extremely common in the current meta for a player to shoot a Bangalore smoke on a team and then have his BH ulted teammate spray them with a Havoc from long range, the team inside the smoke has their screen completely concealed by smoke effects and therefore can’t even see the player firing at them.
One waying shouldn’t even be in the game to be totally frank, it has no counterplay and no readability. The current meta (BH Bang Caustic) is almost entirely built around being able to one way during fights while in BH Ult, just like the previous fighting meta of Digi Bang Smoke was.
Every single method players use to create one-way situations should be evaluated by Respawn at this point because it’s clear it’s going to be abused at a high level. Removing digis from SMGs was a great way to eliminate a lot of it but now people just use BH ult as their “digi”.
