I’ll preface this by saying I could find very little information online about the spa at Planet Hollywood, and want to share the following in case anyone is traveling to Las Vegas and curious about the shower/spa situation there. I realize this write up will not be about communal showers per se, but because I think a lot of people looking for hotel spa info land on this subreddit, it could be useful.
TL;DR: Spa at PH does not have open communal showers and generally does not seem to be a communally nude space, although nudity is permitted.
The areas are gender segregated. The men’s space contains a room with one hot tub and a couple lounging chairs, an adjacent sauna and steam room to the right, and locker rooms and showers to the left. Basic and small space, but aesthetically pleasing.
Showers are individual stalls with a glass door into the space and then a curtain for the shower itself.
When I was there, the hot tub had been down since the morning, so the spa space was essentially the sauna and steam room. Both are small. The frequency of the steam machine was pleasant and I could sit for awhile. I did not use the sauna for long because they were blasting cricket noises from inside, and it sounded like fire alarms. Unpleasant and counterproductive to relaxation.
Because of the gender segregation, and because there are no signs telling you to clothe, I assumed nudity was fine. There were three other guys in the spa during the short time I was there. Two wearing trunks. The other was in his underwear and lied face up in the steam room with no towel underneath, which seems supremely unhygienic. But I digress.
When I entered the steam room, the underweared guy was there and I kept my towel on. When he left I unwrapped and sat down with towel underneath. I did not walk around outside the steam/sauna in the nude.
I had a great massage therapist, but my biggest point of frustration was the quality of service from and location of the attendants. No one told me where to wait for my massage, so I had to walk back out to the front desk in my robe to ask to be shown the way.
When I was in the steam room, two guys in the hot tub area were both on their phones. One was blasting videos at what sounded like full volume and occasionally talking loudly into it. I reported it to staff but there was no one at the desk on the men’s side, so I had to walk all the way out to reception again.
One plus is that the gym is adjacent to the spa, so after a workout you can go have a shvitz and/or clean up.
With the hot tub being down, the poor service, and the siren-like cricket noises, I was a little frustrated at my experience there. It’s obviously not the kind of spa that you visit if you’re not staying at the hotel. Even if you’re staying at PH, the place is pretty lackluster. But you can at least enjoy the pool and rooms in the nude if you don’t mind being potentially the only one.
