We all keep saying Rivera needs to go immediately. So what if that happens? Who’s the interim coach? We can’t get our next coach mid season. Then only unemployed retreads are available. Any serious coaching contenders are working right now and won’t be available until the season is over. And we all want JDR and Turner gone as well. So neither of them could be interim coaches. So who then? Promoting a position coach over the coordinators is a sure sign they will be gone. So they will only be coaching out the season and not trying. Thus, keeping Ron until the end of the season makes some sense.

BTW: My opinion is fire them all. Promote a coach that the team respects. Put Heinicke in. Not Howell, he might actually be a diamond in the rough. So don’t kill him this season. Let him mature a year in the NFL. See what he offers next Preseason. Leave him untouched for the next coach. And insert as much of our young players as we can without being to detrimental to the team. See if there another Curl in there. Play out the season and hope for a top pick and take another QB. Move up if we have too. Then let the rookie and Howell battle it out and hope one is an NFL starting QB.
