For about 10 days now I've been struggling intermittently with slow speeds and packet loss making streaming hard and gaming impossible. The issues are intermittent but frequent. It will be fine for a while and then horrifically bad, then OK, then back to normal. When these issues present themselves, download speed goes down to 50mbps and upload speeds slow to about .5mbps. It seems to be primarily an outgoing packet issue as well although thereโs at least a little bit of incoming packet loss.
Things I've tried so far:
- Restarting the modem (About 5 times a day at this point)
- Swapping out the modem (both supplied by Comcast)
- Changing coax cables
- Changing the room the modem is in (different coax wall port)
- Using a wired connection
- Changing computers (so far two laptops, two desktops, and a phone)
Absolutely nothing has helped and it's hard to get a phone agent to understand what my problem is. In fact, I'm waiting from a text from an agent there right now. I started that session maybe 20 minutes ago and still haven't heard anything so... I figured I'd try my luck here. I've already been through the 2 hour tech support rodeo once and I'm not eager to do it again. At this point I feel like this is a physical issue for a tech to deal with.
For what it's worth, there's also been two reported outages in the same period of time, very small ones seemingly only affecting my building. Both times when the outages were 'resolved' things seemed to get better only to completely fizzle out again.
Thanks in advance!
