Tabletop RPG - east side - Savage Worlds
Post Body

GENERAL: Savage Columbus is a tabletop role-playing game in Columbus Ohio that meets each Thursday. The group will use the Savage Worlds ruleset and will use skill, cunning, and toughness to achieve group and individual goals.

The game system is Savage Worlds, known to be "fast, furious, and fun". It is not rule intensive and great for new players and veterans alike.

This game is Open to All (note that due to the venue you must be over 19) and it's free to join. (Space membership not required)

The GM loves role play, danger, and fun. He hates min-maxing, rule lawyers, and jerks.

GAME WORLD: The game is set in a world that on the surface resembles a mix between medieval and old west. The towns are small and either has a simple internal government or ruled because someone is more strong enough to say they are in charge.

The world was once run by The Ancients. Little is known about them - they are either viewed as near Gods, or devils, or fables. Either way, they have long since died out. They did leave behind Technologies that no one understands (and the wise do not trust). Most people have seen a working set of lights; a few refrigerators and other useful tools still exist. But just as often these artifacts of the Ancients cause a rotting disease or cease to function in spectacular ways.

Many people live as simple farmers, merchants, or the like. Some seek glory as soldiers or rulers; others seem fame as they explore the world around them. Most just try to survive as best they can in a dying world.

According to the common man, there is no single map of the world, and the world itself is endless.

Another oddity, believed to be a leftover relic of the Ancients, is the Doors. They show up randomly and lead to (or so it is said) other worlds. Most people have never seen a door by they might claim to know a cousin who met some odd person (or thing) that came from a door.

CHARACTERS: There are basic fighters and thieves and adventurers and the like you'll find in any fantasy based game.

Other character options not as common include: *Muties - most muties (mutants) are mindless and deformed creatures that were once human. They are to be avoided, or if you are able, killed on site. But some can pass for human, and some have developed psychic powers. But be warned - if it is found out you are either a mutie or a psychic, you'll be hounded and hunted (1).

*Scientist - If is unfair to say that all scientist are mad. But it is not untrue. These brave men and women seek to make use of the secrets left behind by the Ancients. (2)

*Gunslinger - Gunpowder weapons are rare but not unknown. There is a known place in the lands where new guns are still made and that land believes they have a sacred duty to protect the land, to bring justice, and to serve the good of all men and women. These Knights are known as Gunslingers. Note that PCs can not start as Gunslingers, but only as Apprentice Gunslingers. They must earn their guns in game. (1)

*Wizards/Mages/Warlocks - Magic is known but rare. Few villages or towns have a mage; large cities likely only have 1 or 2. It is said that there used to be more, but for some reason, few survive the apprenticeship process. The common folk suggests it is because the only way to get magic power is via packs with dark spirits. And those spirits will destroy you if you are weak; covert you if you are strong.

*Clerics/Priest/Holy types - There are as many religions as you can shake a burning bush at. PCs are recommended to make up their own instead or borrow from another source.

(1) - Yes, a nod to S King's Dark Tower (2) - These character types are from Savage Worlds: Deadlands with slight modification to fit this world.

RACES: *Humans are the common folk of the section of the world where the game starts but standard Fantasy Races such as Elf, Dwarf, etc are all options.

*Muties are poor deformed creatures that resemble humans but are despised.

*Other - due to the Doors, any race might be in this world. But the more unusual, the more likely to be...problematic.

SUMMARY New player friendly role-playing dice and paper game starting and running most Thursdays.
