There are a lot of people looking for a Dom, or dominant partner in their posts. In my experience, there's a very wide range to what that actually means. I've met some people who claim they want a Dom, but what they're really after is the "S" to their "M". Though the two are not mutually exclusive, I feel being dominant is more about control. Leading the encounter. Dominating does not necessarily mean pain or humiliation.
Similarly, I've known masochist who were dominant, guiding their own treatment.
What are your thoughts?
"The masochist says, 'Beat me! Beat me!' The sadist says. '... no.'"
