Bicycle route explained?

Okay, so I’m just getting into it and discovering new paths, but I take the path (I think it’s the scioto trail- it goes downtown if I go the other way) from the west end (starting at the casino) all the way down to battelle Darby creek metro park. The problem is that I have a road bike and the trail turns into a dirt path once I get down there. Does anyone know if the trail continues from there further south for road bikes or does anyone know of an app that would have this info? Am I missing something?
