Best place to buy a Christmas tree?

Post Body

For reference, I have never decorated for Christmas because itā€™s just been me and I never saw the point. But this year I have a pooch and I would like to put up a few decorations around the apartment and buy a Christmas tree so we can celebrate the holiday together and wrap presents to put it under the tree (most of the presents will be for him)!

I live in the Clintonville area and there is a place right off of north high, almost to 161 (near Aldi, I think) and they sell live Christmas trees. This seems the obvious choice as itā€™s about 1/2 mile from my home, but we walked by the other day and their prices seemed kind of steep. I say this NEVER having bought a Christmas tree before and not having any reference. It just seems crazy to me to buy a tree close to $100 when you are just going to throw it out next month. (Did I also mention that I am cheap!!?? lol)

So I guess my question for you all is where is the best/cheaper place to buy a tree (even if itā€™s outside of Columbus and I have to drive a hike to get there) and what TYPE of tree is best. Maybe thatā€™s the better questionā€¦ is there a type of tree to get that is ā€œbetterā€ for dogs? Now Iā€™m thinking pine needlesā€¦ my dog is not one to eat anything unless itā€™s in his bowl, but now Iā€™m thinking maybe this might be a bad idea for his paws? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!

Happy Holidays!
