Question on safety in downtown Columbia
Post Body

I will be visiting Columbia in August over a weekend. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express - The Vista on Washington Street.

I would like to walk to various places but as a lone, non-spring chicken female I am concerned about safety. The places I would like to walk to from the hotel are:

1) The Saturday Market

2) Shopping on Main Street

3) smallSUGAR on Gervais Street

4) Saluda Avenue (between Five Points and Blossom Street)

5) Historic Columbia and its historic homes that can be toured - about 5 blocks east from Main Street

I would not be walking around at night - only during the day time hours between about 9 am and 4 pm.

Should I be concerned about safety on any of these walks?

Is there anything you would warn me about or tell me to Uber?

Are there any areas around the hotel that I should be aware of in regards to safety ?

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thank you.

We’ve had a lot of date nights down town and never had an issue.
