So my AC at home broke, and as it’ll take three weeks to get a replacement, I decided to bike out to collins last Saturday too cool down and oh boy did I overestimate my capabilities. After about 2 hours of transferring between busses, I hopped off at the end of 16’s route on Sauvie island, and headed out around 1 pm. I only made it a quarter of the way before I started to feel really crummy… like heat stroke crummy. So I decided to head back to the bus stop, and stopped by the Pumpkin Patch to cool down until the nausea and dizziness went away.

Made it back to the bus stop around 3, and had about 20 minutes to kill. For those who don’t know, the bus stop is at the parking lot right next to the bridge. It’s also right next to the river, and as there is a large embankment the other side is hidden from the road. I got curious and checked it out, and noticed that there were many large plants blocking the view from the river, and folks driving on the bridge couldn’t see me if I was closer to the bridge. So I decided to just strip there and lay out my blanket.

Sad that I didn’t make it out to Collin’s beach, but I am glad I got to soak up some sun. Afterwards I got to join the world naked bike ride later that day! At first I was a bit apprehensive, as I was by myself and it seemed like most folks came with or knew someone who was there. But I changed my mind after making a new friend as I was helping them find some tools to adjust the angle of their bike seat. All in all I had fun. Though I had to leave early to catch the last bus of the night to get home. Hopefully next year I’ll be able to stay to the end.

Until then I think I’ll keep biking around places to work on my stamina, and travel out to Collin’s on my bike too :)

I hope you all are enjoying the cool water and the sun! Stay hydrated and don’t let yourself get heat stroke!
