In an effort to not let Porto have all of the new and fancy technology to itself, Salazar has decided that the flagship university for Portugal, to be named upon completion, shall be built in Lisbon over the next 3 years and with it bring both skilled and unskilled jobs. Tuition at this university will be less expensive than at other universities in the nation. Initially, the university will have room for 5,000 undergraduates, with graduate students to be accepted starting in 1956. The whole project should create ~3000 jobs, from maintenance to teaching to administration to construction, and as it is the flagship, accommodations will be adequate and not sparse. The project should cost ~$2.5 million over 2 years, and once completed will be open to any students interested in applying, especially those in Portugal and Spain.
