From (not particularly) humble origins as an immigration aide and representative of the Jews in Palestine to the Turkish Sultan in 1908, the Agency for Palestine finds itself in a situation it perhaps did not expect 38 years prior. Following the outbreak of the Great War in 1914, the Balfour Declaration in 1917, and the ultimate end of the Great War in 1918 (along with a nice little Turkey carving in 1920), the Agency began to see its influence in both the region and the governing of it increase dramatically. The Zionists found a mostly receptive audience in the British who would take over the Mandate of Palestine, and indeed would themselves be brought into the Mandate of Palestine in 1921 as the Palestine Zionist Executive.
Unfortunately, over time the British would become less enthusiastic about the Zionist project and the situation would culminate in the 1930 Passfield White Paper, which would see several promises made in the Balfour Declaration rolled back, including a particularly controversial suggestion to reel back the immigration of Jews to Palestine. Ultimately, this paper would see the resignation of the pro-British Weizmann from both the Zionist Organization and the Agency and indeed sever some Jews from the pro-allied camp enough to see them ally with the Axis in the Second World War.
With the shuffle in leadership, a certain man named David Ben-Gurion rose to power in the Agency in 1935, and a World War followed not long after. Ben-Gurion, the Agency, and the WZO would continue to make their priority pressuring the British government to allow for an Israeli state to be established in Palestine and to that effect, aiding in the immigration of as many Jews as they could - within the mandated limit or outside of it. These activities and ultimately the British refusal to allow for such a state would culminate in an agreement between the Hagnnah, Irgun, and Lehi to form a United Resistance Movement against the British in late 1945, an agreement which the Agency would aid in.
This resistance movement is precisely the conflict in which the Zionists now find themselves embroiled, and it is my intent to take the reins as Ben-Gurion and guide the Zionists to the establishment of the Israeli state and its survival as an independent nation for the Jews secured.
As Fenrir's 2ic I intend to work mostly in the internal politics of Israel - I'll be dealing with the declaration of the state and how it's ultimately governed, as well as any and all internal political shifts (of which there will be many given the groups we're in coalition with :harold:), while also dealing with anything else Fenrir needs in my capacity as the head of state.
