Poland sat in a very dangerous place, they had just recently had a coup ran by hardliner communist politicians headed by the First Secretary Józef Cyrankiewicz and not to mention the elements of the Kanian revisionism kept rearing it's ugly head. Now Cyrankiewicz has to unite Poland once more and return the international prestige that Poland held for years and years prior. As of 1973 Poland sat in martial law which while unpopular, did keep the country together and allowed the United Worker's Party to have undisputed control over the country.
Now Cyrankiewicz must try and hold his nation together from the growing pressures of liberalisation from the west and sticking to the strict Marxist-Leninist orthodoxy from the east.
