The Bolivian Army has been in shambles since the Chaco war that left hundreds of thousands dead, to rectify this and ensure we are prepared for any future conflict the Bolivian Command has begun a standardisation of training. Initially training was very barebones and most of the Bolivian Army were conscripts or aged veterans, to fix this there will be a new Bolivian Army Basic Combat Training (BABCT). The BABCT will run for 22 weeks in total, with the first 10 weeks being the BCF and the other 12 weeks being Advanced Specialisation Training (AST) although some courses can go as short as 4 weeks and as long as a year. These programs are usually run at different military bases that hold the specialisation except for artillery which is held at the same base as BABCT. Training will be led by graduates from the Military College of Bolivia and decorated veterans.
BABCT Program
Week 1: Reception
Week 2: Hand-to-Hand Combat, Map Reading, Teamwork Development, Obstacle Course, First Aid
Week 3: Pugil Sticks, Gas Training, Basic Rifle Fundamentals
Week 4: Weapons and Explosive Training, Confidence Course, Drill, Parade
Week 5: Weapons and Explosive Training, Confidence Course, Drill, Parade
Week 6: Weapons and Explosive Training, Confidence Course, Drill, Parade
Week 7: Formal Army Physical Fitness Test, Field Training Exercises, MOUT
Week 8: Field Training Exercises
Week 9: Field Training Exercises
Week 10: Repair and Servicing, Parade, Graduation
AST Program
Advanced Specialisation Training, or AST, is where new soldiers receive specific training in their chosen Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). The length of AIT training varies depending on the MOS and can last anywhere from four weeks to nearly a year.
Just like in BCT, AST progressively allows trainees more privileges and independence. After a varying length of time and satisfactory performance, trainees are awarded more privileges. Often seniors in the AST are allowed the privilege of applying for off-post passes.
Funding
An estimated $10,000,000 will be given as funding to the new training camps and to update the training regimes of Bolivian soldiers.
