The Interior Minister has announced his intention to support the resumption of Automobile Racing within Belgium in the next few months. "With the cessation of hostilities on the European continent and internationally, the time to focus again on sport has returned. Belgium has a proud history of automobile racing, and we hope to continue to enhance that legacy going into the near future," Minister Van Glebbeke said in a prepared statement.

Plans have already been completed to hold the first public race since the war ended in June, at a circuit in Brussels at the Bois de la Cambre park. Entrants are expected from the major European countries. The most prominent circuit in Belgium, the Circuit de Spa, has been undergoing rebuilding and renovation work since the end of the war, but is expected to be ready in time for a Belgian Grand Prix in 1947, which will be part of the European Grand Prix circuit that year.
