With the continuing escalation of tensions by the Soviet Union over the Indonesian arms embargo, the continued military buildup on the border of Germany and Berlin, and the ongoing presence of direct conflict between Soviet and American troops in Korea, the United States has found itself in the unambiguous situational need to raise itself to full military preparedness for the initiation of conflict from the Soviet Union. To this end, the current domestic national draft is to be expanded, and additional troops are to be deployed to the European theater to reinforce American positions in Europe. These are to be reinforced by increased productions of armor, aircraft, and other heavy weaponry.

Perhaps most ominous, however, was the decision by the Joint Chiefs to increase the deployment readiness of the American Strategic Nuclear Bomber force. The percentage of the force made permanently airborne has been raised from one-third to two-thirds, for a total of 212 nuclear bombers airborne at any given time. These are to be deployed for flights in the European and Pacific theaters, using air bases in Japan, Taiwan, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

It is truly the hope by all that the current crisis over the Indonesian arms embargo can come to a peaceful diplomatic solution, but the United States will ensure that no one will question the commitment of the United States to the borders of her allies in Europe.
