The Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen is a Kingdom stuck in the Middle Ages following the Zaidi school of Shi'a Islam, lead by a theocratic monarchy of Imams. It has a history of conflict with their neighbors, especially the Aden Protectorate that the British have used as a base of operations in the region. It's current Imam Yahya Muhammad Hamid ed-Din was the one established as the ruler of the region by the Ottomans and has lived through both World Wars. He, unlike many other Arab leaders of this time, has an extremely good relationship with the Jews of his country and they serve as important artisans and landowners of the economy of Yemen. Otherwise, he has been the leader of a country that has attempted to catch up to the rest of the world but struggles to compete with its neighbors.
