Standing a free country again after five years of occupation and collaborationism, the French Republic stands at the dawn of a new age of prosperity for the French people. However, the last war clearly taught the French that strength on paper could be wiped out by incompetence at the highest levels and inferior technology. For that reason, I wish to claim the French 2nd in Command to help rebuild and revitalize French industry, the French military and the French people.
France's railway network requires repair, expansion and modernization. We place our faith in new classes of modern, powerful steam locomotives that can take advantage of France's resources, until such time that we can convert our railway system to electrical power. This conversion coincides with our push for further electrification and modernization in our cities and towns. To that end, we look towards the promising new field of Nuclear Power and hydroelectricity, both of which provide considerable promise for France's future.
France's arms industry, in particular, has a great opportunity for revitalization and expansion after the devastation wrought by the Germans. It is hoped that we will be able to gain back our years of lost productivity by exploiting German advances made during the war. It is clear that France must rely on its own technology in the future, rather than using foreign-produced weapons, to achieve maximum self-sufficiency. To that end, as 2nd in Command I will work towards the development of new arms, planes, tanks, ships, and all other types of military technology that will ensure France regains the primary military role it had before the war with Germany.
All these measures, it is hoped, will give France a bright, steady and peaceful future, while ensuring her defense and that her sovereignty is never so thoroughly violated again.
