Beginning last year, the Yoshida government, along with SCAP MacArthur had, after seeing the dangers and horrors of communism, begun to conduct a clandestine policy of slowly removing known communist and socialist sympathizers from the civil administration of the State of Japan. Of course, none of the removals were illegal per se, it involved various "budget cuts" and thorough inspection of these specific workers. However, due to the lack of break up of the larger Japanese corporations the Yoshida government had begun to return the Japanese governments close relationships with these entities, and thus had also expressed their fears of who these communists and leftists were truly loyal to, the Japanese people, or Moscow? After the not so subtle hint from PM Yoshida and his government, many private sector corporations have begun their own firing of known communists and leftists, particularly those who have participated in union activities. It is expected by the end of this initiative, 22,000 men and women shall be fired, though who knows how high the number shall truly rise to.
