May, 1958.

For years now, the world has held it's breath in uncertainty of the policies of the newly introduced M-26-4 (Moviemento 26 de Abril) government as it restructed power within the Republic of Cuba. Headed by President Manuel Urrutia Lleo, who acts merely as a figurehead for the populist Prime Minister Fidel Castro, the uncertainty of Cuba was finally broken with a flurry of speeches, demonstrations, evictions, and reforms.

In the Capitol of Havana, Prime Minister Castro announced economic reforms which would see the end of the American monopoly on Cuban Industry, with Castro nationalizing Casinos, Factories, Refineries, and the vast properties of the United Fruit Company. In his speech that would define this undertaking, he recited his childhood in which he saw with consternation the luxurious accomodations given to the American business at the expense of the poor and downtrodden Cuban worker, and that the humiliation of the Cuban working man is being promulgated primarily by American business operations in Cuba. The M-26-4 Government would be the only political party allowed in all of Cuba, the other parties being labeled as reactionaries and traitors who betrayed Cuba to President Batista, while also graciously offering all former party members who were not considered direct Batista collaborators amnesty and the ability to return into politics in the M-26-4 Party.

Along with the nationalization, Fidel reorganized the old Workers' Central Union of Cuba, withdrawing it entirely from the Inter-American Regional Organization of Labor, instituting stricter oversight of worker welfare by banning all other labor organizations, and finally, putting hte Workers' Central Union of Cuba under the aegis of the State. Gone would be the long and unrestricted labor laws that were in place because of the incessant whining of the American Imperialist, and finally, the Cuban worker would have decency!

Furthermore, revolutionary Cuban and Caribbean Legion soldiers and militiamen would ransack, loot, and set pigs loose into the Casinos of the Mafia, and Castro himself would order personally that many large mafia leaders be arrested, interrogated, their cuban collaborators arrested, and the American mafioses exiled back to America. Former Batista supporters would take this opportunity to flee, and many Americans would begin a large and panicked exile from the island of Cuba - Just as Castro intended.

Lastly, Castro, seeing the necessity of further collaboration with Colonel Barquin, now his Minister of Defense, he has approved a program from the integration of Caribbean Legion soldiers into the Cuban Army, and has approved a program of restructuring the army to suit more modern times, while also keeping the professional traditions of the officer corps.

Castro would now privately consider his foreign position, as his policies, which are not lost on him, would certainly alienate the United States and a majority of the region around him. Within this, he would heavily consider a pragmatic partnership with the Soviet Union in order to keep his house in order lest the Americans would attempt another invasion of the island in order to topple him and the M-26-4 Government....
