The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the Kingdom of Cambodia have concluded a diplomatic treaty, entitled The Economic Agreement of 12 May 1951 Between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The two states party to the agreement have promised to conduct trade of capital, raw materials, and agricultural products in a manner that will enrich both. To this end, the Soviet Union has promised to transport extensive amounts of Soviet machinery for the mechanization and modernization of agriculture to Cambodia, with instruction and training from Soviet engineers, and Cambodia has promised favorable trade of agricultural products to the Soviet Union (details kept private). Additionally, promises have been made to jointly construct infrastructure projects in Cambodia, at a future time. This treaty is flexible, and has provisions for future amendment, should both parties agree.
