In regard to the most recent hack! (advise) (READ)
Post Body

This is my own personal advise to anyone who uses a centralized wallet such as Coinbase. Please feel free to add to the list of security measures that can be taken!

First thing first, Have your 2FA setting active!

It would be smart to download 2FAS Authenticator app! It’s icon is a white app with a red shield on it. SET UP ALL your accounts that have 2FA with your Authenticator app. This is FAR more secure than 2FA via text. There are a few Authenticator apps on the market, Imo, the one I mentioned is the best.

Authenticator apps give codes that only last 30 seconds. This will be the official code you enter into your 2FA. These codes generate automatically every 30 seconds indefinitely. Thus, every code you enter will be different. No more txt msg 2FA.

Why? SIM Swaps are easier now than ever. Once the hacker routes your phone number to their own phone, it’s practically game over for all your accounts.

On top of that, for additional security, if you have Verizon, you need to put a (Port Freeze) on your Mobile account, call *611 if you don’t want to do it manual. If you have AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Etc… Go into your advanced setting and add a Pin # to your sim card settings, AS well as a lock on your SIMcard unless your literally setting up a new phone. This is a strong security measure people should have if they use Txt Msg 2FA, even if you already have an authenticator app you should do this.

With the direction crypto is going, a $500 compromised wallet or custodial account may not be (life-ending) right now. But 5-15 years down the road it could be a million $ mistake.

If you think any of your accounts related to an email or phone number may have been exposed to a hack recently. Go to HaveIBeenPawned on the internet and look up your email or phone number and it will tell you if/when something related to your # or email was involved in a hack, as well as what information was leaked and where it ended up, (typically deep web).

HaveIBeenPawned is an encrypted source website so your arguably 100% safe when looking yourself up!

Or get a decentralized wallet. Stay safe everyone!
