How do I turn off "smartconnect"?

I have an Amazon Echo Spot that won't work properly because it connects to 5G automatically. I would like to connect it to my 2.4GHz network, but I can't find an option to connect it aside from the QR code which isn't an option for that device. I'd like to turn off smartconnect all together. Thank you
