Looking for my first burr grinder, considering the Rancilio Rocky or the Le'lit PL53. Any experience with these two? Is there something better in the < $300 range?
Post Body

Anyone have any experience with these two? Or a cheaper one with similar results?

Needs:

  • I'm not grinding for espresso, I'm grinding for drip/french press
  • Stepless Stepped adjustment (edit: looks like I don't need stepless if I'm not doing espresso)
  • Doserless
  • Good, conical burrs

I read a description of the PL53 that said "The Le'Lit PL53 is designed for espresso grinding ONLY. It will not grind beans for American (aka brown) coffee." How could this be? It can't do coarse grinds?

(I already did a search of this subreddit for grinder advice. The Bodium Bistro, Capresso Infinity and Baratza grinders were cheaper, but had some negative reviews. I'm willing to spend a little more than that range, but not Mazzer prices.)

On another note: maybe we should have some grinder info on the sidepanel? Something like blade vs burr, conical burr vs flat/disk, stepped adjustment vs stepless, doser vs doserless, etc? Maybe even a list of recommended grinders in certain price ranges?
