Advice giving: virtuous or codependent?
Post Body

I know this question sets up a complex issue into an oversimplified binary, but I really am curious as to how to navigate this. I think I’ve made a lot of dumb mistakes in my life and so I know I definitely have valuable advice to give (though I know I should only really give it when it’s asked for). But, as someone who, for example, wants to be a therapist because, from others, I know I’m intuitive, a good listener, and a good advice-giver, is it bad to identify with advice-giving as something that I’m pretty good at? Does that come from a codependent place? Does my wanting to be a therapist maybe come from a codependent place?
