Why do I need continuous validation from men?

I’m separated and on my own for the first time in 15 years. Why do I feel like I still need validation from men? I’ve read everything I can find about why I seek external validation. Most “causes” are an abusive childhood or other things like that. I had a wonderful childhood with zero abuse. How can I stop looking for external validation and find my own?
