Surprise sets other than guest appearances or djs?

Hear me out...

We all know surprise dj sets pop up at do lab and sometimes Heineken.

And many make quick appearances during other sets and play a quick 1-3 songs.

But I thought what if as a legit surprise 20-30 minute set...No announcement, no text confirmations or social media blasts, no time slot billed in the program or lineup signage at the stages...

Basically whoever is closing the stage immediately followed up by the same genre or fan base directly after.

For example: - weezer: incubus or rhcp directly after - cudi / pusha t: Kanye obvi - khalid: logic - Anderson paak: masego/goldlink

I know we are tired of all the hype shit posts especially the ye ones but since starting in 2015 I havenā€™t heard or seen surprise acts done by genres other than edm acts.

Donā€™t get me wrong I loved each and every one from Major lazer, sonny, Henry and zhu.

But many times I skip the main headliner on certain nights for whatever reason...and always think should we rush over and catch the last bit or just head back to camp and chill.

Usually itā€™s the latter due to energy and would rather not deal with the crowds swarming.

Edit: after reading I get it the names provided are huge acts But I was trying to paint the picture of my thought process.

I get it...itā€™s time consuming to change stages for production value for bands and vocal heavy artists VS just plugging in a usb.

So long story short: - has there been surprise ā€œsetsā€ with bands and/or vocal artists in past years?
