Does anyone know how the process is with the wristbands and getting inside the festival?

I know there are 2 gates you have the scan the bracelet before you go through the security check to get inside the actual festival. I remember when I left the festival earlier on one of the days, I had to scan my bracelet to exit but when I left later in the night, they did not require anyone to scan their bracelet upon exit.

I ask because I only scanned at the 1st gate before I realized I had to go back to the car. I didn't scan my bracelet on the way out since they didn't have anything like that at the 1st gate, they just had a lane open for the exit. Upon "re-entry" the bracelet scanned red so I had to exit. Since my friends were already inside, I went to the furthest lane and just slipped my way inside. Does anyone know if this happened because I didn't make it to the 2nd gate to scan and didn't scan to exit the festival?
