Since events and pro players' streams are all streamed on MLG, the entirety of Cod eSports is isolated from the rest of the gaming and eSports community. The reason that we have been experiencing a decrease in viewership is not because of COD getting stale, but because normally in other eSports that are streamed on twitch, when viewers get bored of watching, new viewers replace them in surplus. However in Cod eSports, since everything related to it is isolated from the rest of eSports by being streamed on MLG, there is no good way to reach new viewers, since the majority of people who watch streams on MLG are already cod esports fans. Often streams will attract viewers on twitch due to people seeing how many viewers they have when browsing for channels, thus exposing them to whatever the content of that stream is. Such as in the case of Apex 2015, people could find the stream by looking at the games section, and seeing how many viewers it had, however Cod esports doesn't have this. There are other streamers on MLG other than pros, but I don't think it is enough. Because of this, i see three options that could help advertise cod esports other than completely getting rid of MLG.tv.
1)Dual-stream events on MLG and Twitch: We could reach new viewers from twitch, but still stream on MLG. I know that MLG would want more viewers to watch on MLG, so what they could do is that they could limit the stream quality on twitch or add other exclusive features to watching on MLG, and put an advertisement in the corner of the stream to send viewers to watch on MLG.
2)Repeal the embargo on streaming league matches and 2ks/5ks on twitch: Pros that get less than average viewers would still opt into streaming on MLG if they can, because of the higher CPM, but this would let the smaller streamers who can't get contracted to MLG help advertise cod esports on twitch and also larger streams like scump's/nade's/censor's who can support themselves on twitch could stream on twitch and attract more viewers. I get that MLG want streamers to stream on their site, but there is no advantage to prohibiting small streamers who can't get contracted to mlg from streaming 2ks/5ks. It only removes possible advertising for cod.
3)Make ads: Simply putting ads out about Cod esports on the internet would increase viewership. Another idea I had is if MLG asked activision/SH to advertise lan events in the message of the day that every Cod players sees when they connect to xbox live in multiplayer.
tl:dr Cod isn't growing because we having no way to reach new viewers because of everything being streamed on MLG
Edit 1: Another reason that MLG hurts Cod esports, as pointed out to me by a comment, is that big orgs like can not pick up teams in Cod because they are sponsored by twitch.
Edit 2: Wow this thread got WAY more popular than I thought. It got Pros, org owners and even Nadeshot talking about the lack of growth in COD esports.
