Questions after DVT and PEs
Post Body

Hello!

Male 31. Active lifestyle and career. Ok, I had knee surgery back on the 21st, the 22 started having pain in my knee and called doc. I went to the hospital and they found two DVT in my knee and "a handful of clots in my lung" (PE). They put me on eliquis and I have been following the doctors orders. My question is, how serious is this, post surgery and post PT. I live a very active lifestyle, mountain biking, dirt biking, rock climbing and I am a fire fighter. They made it seem like after taking eliquis for six months, I should be good to go and back to "normal." However, several people have said I'll be dealing with this for the rest of my life. Can anyone give me their story? If you got clots post surgery can you share with me what your doctors said? Are you still on thinners? Did your clots come back? If so, how long after surgery and recovery did it take for them to return? Any information and advice will be greatly accepted. I see my orthopedic surgeon on Thursday (this was a workman's comp situation) and will be asking these and many more questions. Do you have any questions I should ask my doctor?

Thank you!
