Hello, first let me say this. I feel lucky to have the exciting RISC-V chip in my new dev term. I bought it to support RISC-V which I feel will be important in the future. I know it is an experimental system and not for beginners.
I appear to be having an issue with apt. I have refreshed my OS using the iso and checked integrity using Balena etcher. Behaviour is as expected except for the following issue. For example I can run Doom.
I have asked for help from the Clockwork team but also thought to ask here.
Here is the issue:
I am working as cpi the user that comes out of the box. I have wlan0 running and good wifi.
This works. On using:
$ sudo apt update
it works with a couple of warnings about Codenames. But it works because I state Y a few times, and I think I understand that.
Here is my error. On using:
$ sudo apt upgrade
it hangs overnight at 86% on this:
setting up avahi-daemon (0.8 ubuntu5) ... Failed to relapd dbus service: Transport endpoint is not connected
It has done this twice and doesn’t even stop on CTRL C. Stopping that upgrade then locks my dpkg. Locking my dpkg gets me locked out of any updates at all.
I am doing nothing unusual, to my knowledge.
My own thoughts:
nuke and pave the OS it has nothing in it anyway
One of:
a) remove Avahi and try again
b) I am seeing dbus in the error and wondering if I have to add the printer
c) never use apt and “manually” manage downloads - as in curl them from git, compile each
I like a) then c) best. I am aware c) will slowly cut me off from security updates. I can keep abreast of them manually. I can avoid using my dev term for anything serious.
Thanks. Just to be clear I am still a fan, I signed up for this.
