Lord Teft's mana sources

So, we know from AA4 that Teft has 2 attunements, but neither give him access to fire mana directly. In AA1 when he fights Corin, he uses fire magic to remove Selys Leann's ice from his cane. Any theories as to how he uses fire spells? Could be an item, but Corin doesn't describe any item besides the cane being used by Teft.
Or maybe fire is the tertiary mana type for shapers at Citrine?
