Apologize if someone else has mentioned this, I just don't recall seeing it previously.
I was randomly looking at the standings and was pretty surprised to see a stat I never expected to see: our .500 record against Central Division teams (18-18). What makes this even more odd is how weak the division is this year. We haven't had a non-winning record against the division since 2015 with most years being .600 winning percentage.
We have about 16 games left in the division out of 42 total left in the season which totals to only 52 division games compared to 76 division games the previous years. So not many games left to continue the trend we've set in recent years. The addition of extra Interleague games has definitely been a negative to our recent success as we don't typically come out of these with a winning record (this year currently included). We used to only play about 20 a year, but now we play 46 a year (9 left in this year).
Makes me wonder if this new schedule set-up will hinder our playoff chances in the upcoming years.
