Tea & Roadblocks 3 (Arma 2) by Fadi & Iron

SITUATION:

The Coalition invasion of Takistan is getting bogged down. Although the Takistan Army is broadly in retreat, the Zargabad district in particular is proving troublesome for the forces tasked with taking the region.

British Army units from SERVING Battalion are responsible for the ZARGABAD AO. SCONE company, with support from ROYAL MAIL artillery battery, are engaged in close fighting with enemy irregulars east of the city. West of the city, BISCUIT company, supported by FV510 Warriors from BENTLEY platoon, are attacking Takistan Army mechanized units. Your unit, KETTLE company, has the worst of it: the city itself.

Intelligence is confident an enemy command & communications center is located somewhere inside the city, and KETTLE company is going to secure it. Doing so will provide SCONE, BISCUIT and other supporting units in the region with the detailed force composition and deployment maps they can use to encircle ZARGABAD.

Two platoons from KETTLE company secured a position on the outskirts of ZARGABAD over the previous day, but met heavy resistance and sustained too many casualties to push into the city proper. The task falls to TEAPOT platoon to fight their way inside the city limits and secure that command center. Its location is unknown, but a local community elder hostile to the current regime is willing to provide us with the location of the command center if we can find him. TEAPOT will rendezvous with the informant and use his directions to locate the command center, recover any intelligence or key personnel, and return back to the staging area to report results to KETTLE commanding officer GUVNA.

The enemy knows the city cannot be held indefinitely but not for lack of trying. UAV reconnaissance has spotted extensive defensive works and emplacements. Ambushes, roadblocks and guerrilla tactics are expected. A coalition (USMC) combat engineering vehicle COFFEE will be attached to TEAPOT for close support, but this is not going to be an easy fight.

Mission notes:

  • On the chance we fill four sections, we'll split into two separate mini-platoons. Each platoon will get its own platoon leader and the original signed up CO will command them in turn. Please include in your post if you're willing to be bumped up a leadership level if it is necessary (grunt -> FTL, FTL -> SL, SL -> PL).

  • This mission is all urban combat. Urban combat is a bloodbath. There is no good kind of bloodbath. Sections are strongly advised to work in close cooperation to avoid being swamped. Keep this in mind, leadership players, and make sure your sections are trying to shoot the badmans and not all be a hero and rush to save the friendly that just got shot.

  • Stupid squad names make for fun flavor text and briefings, and they're something of a CBB tradition. While in game stick to Alpha/Bravo/etc as listed or brains will start melting.

  • Even if you don't think you'd like to be a fire team leader, please consider trying it! It can be a lot of fun and even if you decide it isn't for you, you'll have learned what you can do to be more useful as a grunt in future games.

  • M728 Gunner will be lottery as usual. Post if you'd like the slot, the random.org drawing will be Thursday evening-ish US-time. If you don't get it, please post again with your new preferred slot or just let me know in IRC.

General CBB notes:

  • Typical rules for signups: if you aren't 100% sure you can make it, choose reserves. Please don't pick reserves if you simply don't know/care what slot you want though; it makes planning super difficult. If you cannot make it, take latrine duty.

  • CBB Saturday games are expected to run ~3 hours. Signing up for a slot means you'll stick around. Choose reserves if you're not sure you can stay the duration. Signing up for any sort of vital or specialty role (leadership, vehicle crews, medics, etc.) is a commitment to stick around even if the game runs long.

  • If you signup and are later unable to attend for whatever reason, please comment and let us know. Nobody will get mad if we have warning, but if you don't show up at all it looks pretty bad on you.

  • Large threads are hard to track. If you have a change in status, please make a new reply instead of editing your previous reply.
