Impromptu MSO last Monday went well, people enjoyed it, etc. Lets do it again!
No signups, but please comment if you think you'll attend for some of this.
No, seriously, GO READ THIS IT ISN'T VERY LONG SO JUST READ IT OR YOU WON'T KNOW WHAT YOU CAN OR SHOULD BE DOING IN MSO.
What we'd like to do is further embrace MSO's persistence features, so we'll get this started up at a Euro-friendly time and just let it roll all evening. That means the responsibility is on small groups of players to make their own fun.
There is no single existing objective or task that must be completed, you as small groups of players must go out and determine what is happening in the region so we can then decide what the later/larger group actions are going to be. Does that sound very confusing/different from our usual game? Yeah, it does, so read this file to get a rough idea of how that could work and the sorts of tools you could use to facilitate that.
One last doc to read.
MSO Notes:
Unlike a traditional mission, Operation Ardent Conceit has no strict objectives. What players will do is determined by what players have already seen and done. Emergent gameplay is a big part of things.
This is a sandbox and because of that minor disruptions can have a larger impact than normal. Two things should be mentioned here for clarity:
1: There's a system for changing loadouts. Stick with what your slotted role unless told otherwise by your SL or CO.
2: There are assets and player slots that may not be in use. Don't be that guy who decides to jump into a pilot slot and take an Apache. Apaches aren't sent out on a whim to just Find And Kill Bad Guys. If you're just getting a game going or are not sure where to slot, default to an infantryman. If you're extra not sure, it's acceptable to use the ingame text chat to find out who needs what.
Progress across sessions is stored in the Persistent Database including the locations of vehicles, functional or damaged, loadouts and player positions. Making sure you are in a safe place before you disconnect is pretty important.
