Hello Reddit, I moved into my new apartment a few weeks ago and, despite being told it was professionally cleaned and carpet was replaced and doing much of my own cleaning, I'm still losing the battle to cigarette smoke smell. When I got the place it smelled like cat urine and smoke so at least the cat smells gone. I've cleaned and shampooed the carpet, scrubbed cabinets and doors down with vinegar and water and some murphys oil as well. It works but there are days the smell is still very strong and it's saturated all of my clothes, pillows, mattress and chair. I'm on the second floor so it could be rising from below me but I'll take any other tips and tricks you have. I do plan on scrubbing the walls and ceiling and opening the windows when it's not freezing outside. Thanks for reading.
