How to get rid of cooking smell from my room while roommate is cooking in the kitchen?

I live in a shared apartment and sometime my roommate cooks in the kitchen for 1-3 hours and during this time smell spread in entire apartment including in my room. It’s very bad smell. How do I get rid of it? I was thinking to buy room spray but I have migraine, and room spray usually give me a headache.

I am looking for something shoe spray which kills shoe smell. Is there anything like that? Kind of anti-smell room spray instead of one with strong fragrance?

Note: I live in a cold place so I can’t open my windows
