I absolutely adore the Second Doctor Classic serial The Krotons. To me, it really leverages the black & white format to create an almost Stanley Kubrick-esque production. I adore the alien feel of the inside of the Kroton’s spaceship especially when the little black box on a sliding stick watches the display screen, both display an X and then the image of the Doctor. The whole idea or being ‘dispersed’ is horrifying and an inventive new way for the monster of the week to kill rather than the practically identical ray of the Cybermen and Daleks of the era which just involved use of film negatives and the same sound effect. The geeky nature of the chemistry involved in a crystalline life form, and Zoe once again demonstrating her superior intellect is also really welcome for the 60’s before the companion was reduced to getting captured and screaming once again. What do you think?
