How much does the edition of a classic book impact your enjoyment of it?
Post Body

Classics can come in far more diverse formats than more modern books, which affects the readers' enjoyment of it to an extent.

I always associate Jane Eyre with a specific hardback edition that I read in school, which I haven't been able to find since. So I haven't gone back to re-read JE because I keep thinking "this isn't how far down the text went like in that-specific-hardback-edition".

On the other hand, I like other editions of classics I've already read like Penguin and Barnes & Noble for their academic essays at the beginning.

Comments

Honestly, a used paperback that smells 20-30 years old is perfect.
