On May 1 we will be starting a two week buddy read of the play 'Medea' by Euripides over in r/AYearOfMythology
'Medea' was written around 431 BCE. The play tells the story of the (already mythological) Medea in her marriage to the hero, Jason after the events of 'Jason and the Golden Fleece'. The play is one of the most famous in all history and is still performed to this day. It is seen as a masterpiece, though some content in it is upsetting and disturbing to readers. I have posted some trigger/content warnings (as well as a guide to some popular translations) here.
Anyone who is interested can join, though please be aware that we have just finished reading Apollonius of Rhodes 'Argonautica' as a group and mild spoilers for that may pop up in some of the Medea discussion.
We will be splitting the reading into two sections. For the first week we will be reading and discussing Lines 1 - 750. Week two will cover Lines 750 - End.
