When everyone reminisces about past events, its always the raiding and political bullshit. But there's so many other experiences and stories people have from their time on the server. This is one of my favorites from 2.0
When the map for 2.0 was created, the staff either forgot to add savanna biome with acacia trees or were rushed and it fell through the cracks. So the map started out with absolutely no acacia whatsoever. To rectify this, some staff members quietly traveled around the savanna placing acacia saplings. There weren't many, but they were in the game now.
A few players picked up on this, notably Tassadar, and used the opportunity to go around and collect as many of the saplings as possible to safely store away. That was pretty much it for a while. Acacia wood was valuable, but low demand didn't particularly spur anyone to try and spread it around.
At some point though, Poortea did some raiding in the Reach. I don't know many of the details, although as I understand it he was pearled and claimed he had broken the chest with all the acacia saplings and was going to release them to the public. It later turned out this was a ruse, but it worked. Tassadar being cool and chill offered most groups a couple saplings since they were out anyways.
I don't remember if it was me or ComradeTaco that got them, probably both of us, but Metepec received a few saplings. We quickly set up a small tree farm beside the old union courthouse and had a decent stand of acacia going. Unfortunately, we weren't too concerned about it, and being right by the road, every person that passed by usually took a couple trees with them. At some point, someone took all of them and didn't leave any sapplings behind to replace them.
For a while that was that, there were just no acacia in Metepec anymore. Then one day I happened to notice a couple of leaf blocks hanging to the wall of a barn. As I broke the last one, a single acacia sapling dropped. I excitedly picked it up and took it up the mountain behind the city where I grew it in secret. From there I continued to secretly grow more and more acacia trees until they and their saplings were no longer a rarity.
ComradeTaco had established a long tradition of keep the lands around Metepec forested, so once I had enough sapplings I started mixing acacia in with the oak and birch trees. I also set up multiple trees farms outside the city since the trees took a bit of time to grow. Over time acacia became one of the most plentiful trees in the whole region, all from a single chanced upon sapling.
