[Discussion] Bastion Spam Campaign: Yay or Nay?

Hello all,

As some of you may have noticed, I'm back from my endless amounts of work at the end of the year!

I'm very glad to be back and I have gotten right back to the hang of things by mining 3 stacks of diamond blocks in the last 2 days. With that in mind, I have posted this to call attention to my diabolical bastion spam campaign.

With the implementation of bastions to our vault and security bunker proving invaluable so far, I was wondering how you all felt about covering major parts of Orion in bastions reinforced to the Orion group. These would be funded in large part by me after Norami gets her bastion factory up and running. With bastions come a few pros and cons.

Pros

  • No raiders would be able to grief where bastions are placed. This benefit speaks for itself

  • Orion would be an essential no-go zone for enemy PvPers as they could not pearl away or pillar up

  • Having bastions everywhere would deter raiders in the first place

  • Would synergize very well with Better Beacons if that ever rolls out. Essentially, Orion would be the home team's dream city where short of a 2:1 ratio of attackers-defenders would be crushed immediately.

As you can see, bastions around the city would provide immense help to any friendly security forces in the area and prevent any form of placed block grief from occurring. These are major advantages, however, the disadvantages need to be weighed as well.

Cons

  • People not on the Orion group yet (normally non-citizens or citizens to be aren't) would not be able to build in the city until a mod of the group came on. This could create some foreseeable problems.

  • Foreign guests may be disadvantaged by not being able to pearl away whilst in danger. Orion group moderators would have to remain very vigilant while bastions are in the city.

  • There are many other "what if" types of scenarios that become cons of bastions as blacklisting is not online yet (or in the near future)

Keep in mind, this project is going to be extremely and painstakingly expensive while taking a large amount of time to complete. This is not a one week long project. Mass producing bastions is going to be a challenge and that time could be spent on other projects. With that said and all pros and cons weighed, I would like your opinion on bastions throughout the city. Is safety a key issue for you, or do you feel safe as is? Please, leave your suggestions below.

Thanks for reading,
