After a huge amount of work from ProgrammerDan and Maxopoly have a new version of AFKPGC.
We're live testing test changes to AFKPGC that will directly target bot-like accounts contributing to lag. This will generally involve very short (typically under 5 minute) bans to investigate if kicking a particular account and unloading those chunks positively impacts server performance. If performance impact is confirmed, a longer ban will be placed until the server's overall performance improves.
Currently, TPS target values and other investigative values are relatively generous, this will be observed and tweaked over time. If at any point you feel your account has been incorrectly targeted with a performance related kick or ban, please modmail so the specifics of your case can be investigated.
If you do see that one of your botting accounts has been kicked or temporarily banned, please take it at face value. We aren't trying to prevent players from enjoying the game, but accounts that are responsible for a disproportionate amount of drain on the server's resources are disrupting game-play for everyone. If you'd like to make a positive impact along those lines, reconsider your farm design. If it leverages large numbers of hoppers, re-flowing water, pistons, or other major lag contributors, kindly consider removing it, redesigning it, or reducing it in size.
Given that Realistic Biomes persists all crop types besides mushrooms currently, there is little reason to keep a complex farm loaded beyond a few times each day to harvest. Do your part, and unload your auto-harvest machines, hopper fields, and other constructs unless absolutely necessary.
In the long term Civcraft is moving to remove the need to have bot or idle accounts to effectively participate in industry, the game should persist everything you do that needs persisting and idling should be of little to no actual use, hopefully combine with an effective and tweaked version of AFKPGC we can keep the server playable and working well.
As a final note, no matter what this plugin only turns on when the tick is low, so any and all farms can still be used in the morning.
