New Today On Civcraft
- I would really love to be putting some fixes online but after days of asking no one has performed a single test just run thought the basics of Citadel and Namelayer and make sure they work, I am asking for 1 minute of your time in exchange for the hours per day everyone involved in running Civcraft gives, its not much.
Needs Testing On Civtest
Citadel, this should fix some issues with default groups, please play around with it and report back.
JukeAlert muting groups should be persistant now.
NameLayer with fixes for minor bugs.
Bugs And Development Focus
We finally have a more detailed report about the issue with PrintingPresses, hopefully this can be the first step to getting that fixed.
Still need to figure out a ticket system, the longer I think about it the more I think the ideal soltuion would be to have a reddit bot read modmail, and turn every entry into a ticket on an otherwise closed system, it could also then read comments on the ticket, maybe parsing them for "//To User// message //End//" and send that back to the client while posting their replies as comments, not sure if there are ticket systems with an API that would make that easy, the reddit end should not be too diffiuclt praw seems to make this sort of stuff pretty easy.
Big thanks to /u/space_fountain for his pull to the world border github, this should fix most of our problems and make Jawa's idea of adding players to MusterCull not needed, although the idea is tempting.
A nice enhancement to realisticbiomes would be if it would autoreconnect to the database. Currently, we have to restart civtest every now and then since it loses connection to the sql server, which then breaks everything.
ttk2's Thinking Corner
It looks like a pull for Factory logging has been submitted, I look forward to putting it into testing once the current round of plugins has been moved online.
SpaceFountain is speccing out his proposed botting plugin here I don't know anyone who thinks that the method of allowing Java scripting in game he is using is as secure as he believes it is. Even if he is correct its not worth the bet. Pseudo assembly is much easier to restrict and implement in a secure manner. When you need to use the excuse "but it would just compromise another machine" somthing is very wrong. Also contained at this link is my exact proposal, its much more restricted but hopefully much more emergent and fun to work with in game instead of just coding 100% of whatever you want both code and redstone machines can be used in tandem.
And so Mercury is in testing, it looks like other than delivery logic (where it tries to optimize message delivery) its going to be very simple.
Chapter 108 of HPMOR had some interesting comments on people who model themselves as heroes.
