New Today On Civcraft
Aspect Factories are now online, as outlined in most threads about the Aspect Factories be careful with the Diamond lore aspects, as they will be om nom nomed by Citadel if you leave them in your inventory.
Staged updated Burricos, this version should have a couple of bug fixes but not break opening donkeys like the last version with these fixes.
New Today on Civtest
- could someone who has a working NetherFactory on Civtest let me know when its on so that I can reboot Civtest and check its status again? Hopefully we can put the always on/off status of NetherFactories to rest
Bugs And Development Focus
TangentialThreat did a nice write up on how NetherFactories are going to work and why you would want them, I do suggest reading it
As outlined here thanks to Flaminius's testing we can see that the issue with printing presses starts at the 5 page or so mark. Everything else seems to work ok, but the costs on all of this do need to plummet.
Bastions need fixing.
Awhile back, we sitched from quonic's generously hosted wiki to our own wiki at civcraft.org. I think most of the content has transitioned, but are there old pages still missing? If there are some old articles that haven't been moved over then feel free to download the images or pages and edit them in. We highly encourage using the wiki to document the history and legacy of your cities.
PrintingPresses are broken, we should fix them and then drop the cost like a rock until printing books is actually done. Thoughts on adjusted costs (Assuming they are ever actually fixed or broken in the first place)?
Civdisease development has caught the flu. We have a repository just waiting for commits.. How hard could it be to code in overdose effects for pufferfish abuse?
ttk2's thinking corner
The generally proposed day for NetherFactories is Saturday, I can do that afternoon but not that morning as I will be gone fishing if everything goes well, it should not be a problem though since the ideal time is probably early to mid afternoon my time, as its earlier in the morning (but not too much so) on the West coast, afternoon on the east coast, early in the night in Europe and early afternoon on Sunday in the land down under, I don't think anyone can really complain about the time very much. Thoughts on this?
Developers are working on polishing some NetherFactory parts at the moment, hopefully we will have persistence soon enough, how is everyone's Aspect crafting going?
SpaceFountain made a quick pull to Bastions that might help us debug them, just waiting on a quick code review before its merged, really a formality at this point.
Discussion about proximity cost scaling for NetherFactories has revealed some interesting issues, the equation is designed to be exponential, so while the difference between 5001 and 5000 blocks away should be very small by the time you start getting closer the difference in cost for each additional bock closer should become more and more massive, as its been described to me its working pretty much the reverse of that with 5000 and 5001 being bigger than the changes further into the radius, I get the feeling someone might have mixed up a factor in the equation when they put it into the code, in general I would like to see some data on this from Civtest, but we are at this point missing the command we need to add to allow easy calculation of what a NetherFacotory should cost at any given location, we kinda need that command soon and it really should be pretty easy to make
