There's a bit of grief going on here in NZ about upcoming changes to our privacy laws to allow "US persons'" details to be forwarded to the USA for the purposes of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_Account_Tax_Compliance_Act . It's an effort to prevent expat US citizens from avoiding income tax, which US citizens are required to pay regardless of where they reside.
