I have no idea how difficult this would be to implement or how for or against the feature people of different professions and persuasions would be, but I've been mulling over it for a few weeks now and finally figured I'd share the idea with /r/civcraft to see if you guys think it's pretty cool or pretty crap.
Basically, the system would allow a user - any user - to track a piece of armor by using a command (similar to /pplocate), but with a few caveats - affixing a tracker to a piece of armor is expensive, can be reversed, and can be used equally for good and nefarious purposes.
Basic cost could be something like a stack and a half or two stacks of XP pots or something similar, sort of an "insurance" cost for the piece of armor, and some redstone for realism (circuitry). It'd be created through factorymod and use the Prison Pearl location framework to allow a user to track their armor.
Of course, a way to remove tracking would also likely be implemented so that successfully escaped griefers/thieves can spend some resources to remove tracking on a piece of stolen armor.
I feel like this would be a compelling addition, if balanced correctly, because it'd give both griefers and those defending from grief a choice - do I take this armor, wear it, and deal with the possible consequences of being tracked, or do I toss it and take the stealthy route to make a clean getaway?
In the same vein, do you take the armor that a griefer dropped in a battle to defend yourself with, or do you toss it and hide so that he can't relay your location to his remaining friends?
Again, no idea if this is possible, probable, or even easy to implement, but I really do feel like it'd be a cool addition to Civcraft.
