Merchants, sellers, shopkeepers, marketers, vendors, buyers, brokers, and traders: would you be interested in participating in the collection and publication of the offers made in the various shop chests around the world?
What about CivcraftExchange? CivcraftExchange is a bit like a collection of classified ads for one-time private transactions, this would measure the market price of goods supplied by established businesses on an ongoing basis. This info would be valuable to those who make a living by setting prices or by finding good deals.
How would it work? This would be a group project, so that's up to you all. I would suggest that on a regular basis (monthly? bi-weekly?) shop chest owners and volunteer price-checkers would report each location's offers. The info could then be presented on a wiki page.
What good would that do? Knowing the rates and locations of other providers is valuable for setting competitive prices. I'm sure there are shop owners who wondered why nobody was buying only to much later find out that there is another shop underselling you. I'm sure that even with CivcraftExchange available, it is sometimes hard to tell if you are selling too high or low. This information can help to stabilize the market and perhaps encourage trade amongst communities.
What say you all? Does this interest you? If so, in what way? If not, why not?
