"He what?"
"I always knew he was a fool. I ALWAYS knew that you could not trust some upstart pirate with these matters! And yet, I was forced to wed my two prettiest daughters to him!" Burgher Ezzelio was, in short, furious. Rightfully so. Burgher-Admiral Basheer van de Golven was a peasant by blood, and Ezzelio complained loudly about it. He complained even louder when the arrogant, cocky man marched into his manor, and demanded to know where the two daughters of his choice were, and where the nearest bedchamber was, with a smirk. He turned a worrying shade of red when he discovered that the Mad Pirate of Novoporto had impregnated the both of them, and that both of them vowing true love with the peasant-admiral.
Then again, the Mad Pirate of Novoporto made very few people happy, especially when he got himself captured, and got almost all of Glimmer's fleet killed.
Burgher Will Limoen and Hans Groshaas went to have another fleet built, and arranged for diplomats to sue for peace immediately. The Burghermeister was furious, but could ultimately do nothing, as he had the Orthodoxy to put down. Glimmer could not fight a war with an enemy within and an enemy on the high seas, much less without a navy to speak of.
The peace treaty took two years to negotiate, and what remained of the Glacian fleet spent this time raiding and pillaging the coast, over and over, taking whatever they could from the land they knew they couldn't hold. The Leichforsters held Castra, and fended off the invaders.
Whether the Glacians dragged out the negotiations to give them time to raid those lands is anyone's guess. It certainly didn't foster goodwill, however.
But now it was over. The captives were returned (a notably NOT humbled Basheer van de Golven among them), but were only a few dozen in number. Basheer van de Golven's fame had now diminished quite significantly (though he vows he will gain it all back as soon as he is given command of another fleet). And, the Glacians had handed over Castra and the remaining holdings on the peninsula.
